When should I book removals?

10 MAY 2019

There is so much to arrange when you are planning a move and it’s understandable that you want to be as organised as you can be.

A provisional moving date might have been agreed between the parties in the chain and you will want to take the next step and secure your removal company.  By all means, contact your removal company and check for availability.  You may well be able to pencil in a provisionally booking.  However, do not make any booking where you are required to pay a non-refundable deposit.  Until contracts are exchanged, your moving date can change and if you have booked removals prematurely, you could lose your deposit.

So, however tempting it may be, only book your removals and pay a deposit when you have a fixed contractual moving date, ie when contracts have been exchanged.
